This is not so much a memory as a discovery.  Your web page gives the date 1685 5 covenantors were hanged in Mauchline.  I have been delving into my family tree (Ayrshireroots.com is great) and have just discovered that my g x 8 grandfather was John Browning (Bruning) and was indeed hanged in Mauchline on 5th May 1685.  I am very interested in the memorial that is in your town and would love to see a photo or get any more information.    Thanks
