Public consultation announced on the future role of Mauchline Community Council

  • The public consultation exercise means local residents will be able to have their say.

The future role of Mauchline Community Council is up for debate, after East Ayrshire Council agreed to a public consultation exercise on a review of the role of community councils across the area.

As part of the scheme review, and the consultation period which runs from now until Friday 1st October a Review Information Pack will be available at local council offices and libraries throughout East Ayrshire as well as the Council Headquarters in Kilmarnock. You can also find more details here.

There aren't currently any plans to amend the Mauchline Community Council boundaries but any comments and proposals on amendments submitted as part of this review will be looked considered.

Anyone in Mauchline, the Community Council, individuals or organisations who would like to make written representations on the proposed amendments should send them to Bill Walkinshaw, Head of Democratic Services, East Ayrshire Council, Council Headquarters, London Road, Kilmarnock KA3 7BU or e-mail engagement@east-ayrshire.gov.uk

Information on Community Council office bearers is not available on the East Ayrshire website, but if you want to find out more about your Local Community Council contact Bill Walkinshaw by e-mail at bill.walkinshaw@east-ayrshire.gov.uk or call 01563 576135.

What do you think the future should be for our community council - should it have a greater role, and a bigger say in decisions affecting the town? Post your comments and have your say here on s1mauchline.

Ivie Thomson says

Ivie Thomson here secretary Mauchline Community Counci. regarding the above subject.

First of all this is a new code of practice initiated by East Ayrshire Council on the new updated Code of Practice and Good Conduct for Community Councils.

Secondly they are not public meetings, these meeting are designed to explain to the mebers of each Community Council how the new Code of Practice will work. Our first meeting will be on the 13th September 2009 with East Ayrshire Council.
